I rented a storage unit from Public Storage and canceled it within roughly 30 minutes after realizing I no longer needed it. I handled the cancellation directly with the store manager before ever even visiting the facility. To their credit, most of the charges were refunded quickly. Unfortunately, the one fee that apparently achieved diplomatic immunity was the $29 administration fee — coincidentally also the largest fee involved. The lock itself cost $23 and was refundable once returned, which was impressive considering the lock spent less time in my possession than most business cards I get from random people on the street. Since I never even went to the property, the lock’s entire career with me existed purely as a concept. After the initial cancellation, I spoke with three separate representatives regarding the administration fee. Each one assured me that someone from a “special team” would contact me shortly. At this point, I can only assume this team operates like a highly classified government agency because they remain completely undetectable. I was also promised confirmation emails that never arrived, which added a nice element of suspense to the entire process. The experience became increasingly frustrating due to the amount of time spent on hold, including one call where a representative disconnected the conversation before I could even fully explain the issue. Nothing builds customer confidence quite like waiting extensively to speak with someone only to be abruptly reintroduced to silence. What should have been a simple cancellation turned into an unnecessarily drawn-out process filled with vague assurances, missing follow-ups, and customer service that seemed professionally trained in redirecting responsibility. The entire experience left me feeling misled and undervalued as a customer. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Public Storage to others, and I will not be using the company again in the future.
Great experience at this storage facility. When I moved in, my unit was super clean, but I had trouble with the lock. Walked into the front office and met Ali. Without any issue and attitude, which is not common these days, he resolved the problem within minutes by swapping hardware components on the door. Also assisted with a few technical stuff on the back end with insurance. Great service by Ali!
