I initially tried to set everything up online. I work retail and my day at work is about all the “face to face” contact I want in a typical day. But with the different sizes they offer, I decided I should visually see the units before paying for one. As I walked into the office, this guy named Casey greeted me with a smile. Even though they closed in 30 minutes, he took me to different sized units and then when I decided, he explained everything I needed to know in detail. I had a few questions and he was very attentive and informative: The whole process of picking a unit, signing the lease, buying the lock, getting my codes and paying took less than 25 minutes and I never felt rushed. Getting a storage unit doesn’t seem like the type of transaction where stellar customer service would occur. But I was just so happy with the whole process and the half month discount and the flow of the whole thing. His customer service and knowledge really made the whole process seamless. I found many storage units in holland, but I chose Devon storage and I’m glad I did.

Unit was dirty on move in. Thick layer of dust, spiderwebs all over the walls, leaves/dirt/sticks that fell on my head when I opened the door the first time. Had to bring my broom from home to sweep the thing out before I put anything in it. I rented on August 22nd through the online portal. Received all of my welcome emails and that was that. September 10th I get an email that my rent is late and my unit has been locked. There were no warning emails, no late notice, no calls, NOTHING to alert me about this prior to it happening. $20 late fee. At this time, they only have one site manager running two locations. When I went to my location to try and get it sorted out there was nobody there. There is no posted schedule of when the site manager will be at which location. Had to wait for them to leave the other location and drive over. They very kindly explain to me that because I had rented through the online portal I had "missed out" on the in-person conversation reminding me that rent is due on the 1st and while the 1st month is free, it is pro-rated and I would still be paying for September on the 1st. They also expressed confusion that I had not received prior notice to the late fee and locking of the unit. Additionally, due to renting online I "missed out" on the other portion of the conversation that returning the lock and getting your money back for it only happens if you do it the same day you rent. If you try to return it on move out, they'll tell you "tough luck you bought it even if you didn't use it :)" Another $23 stolen. I want to be clear that the site manager is not to blame for any of this. She was kind, understanding, and very sympathetic. It is the atrocious policies and complete lack of care from the owner of these locations. *Mistakenly originally placed this review on wrong location. Fixed 9/24

Excellent experience with Devon Self storage on Felch St. Last minute change in plans about 10 minutes before they closed on a Saturday and Alex took care of a unit transfer along with other details on a phone call. The flexibility was appreciated as well as her ability to make things happen in a short time. Thank you!

I was with them for months ended up 3 months behind and tried calling multiple times to arrange a payment since I was off work due to maternity leave. I left multiple messages with my name and number and my reason for calling. I never received a call back and then received a text message asking about how my stay had been. I checked my online account and it said I no longer had a unit with them. I received no notification that they were doing anything with my unit! The mice are also absolutely terrible, they got into everything, bags, totes, there was poop all over my stuff and nothing was done. I tried putting traps and stuff up myself.
